It doesn’t get much better than a day at the beach — feeling those warm rays on your face and a cool breeze blowing in your hair. But protecting your skin is super important. The benefits of sunscreen should not be minimized, but chemical-based protectant lotions are absorbed through the skin, possibly increasing the risk of breast cancer.
Instead of loading up on the oil and grease, opt for a wide-brimmed hat, lightweight shirts, and lightweight pants. If you use sunscreen, choose a mineral-based option. Remember the signature white lifeguard nose? (Don’t worry, zinc oxide is clear now!)
A little vitamin D is good for you, but be sure to protect your skin and your health!
